Join us to experience Tai Chi! This program is being offered in partnership with the Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute and will be taught by instructor Chen-Yu Tsuei. She has an extensive dance background including a BFA from The Julliard School and a Master of Science Degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
Tai chi has been practiced in China for centuries as a means of improving the flow of energy within the body, and also as a martial art. Tai chi is an exercise|movement and breathing system that exercises all the joints and major muscle groups while circulating the "Qi" (氣), the internal energy. It is the circulation of the "Qi" that prevents or mitigates disease and debility. Because of Tai Chi's emphasis on the correct form and feeling of each movement, it is practiced very slowly and gently. Completely non-impact, yet involves the entire body. Tai Chi promotes strength, stamina, and flexibility while tempering the joints of participants. Because the whole body moves as one, Tai Chi cultivates the link between mind and body, enhancing balance and coordination. You develop confident ease of movement.
